Why Phoenix
The difference between equipment you replace and equipment you pass on.
Commercial-Grade Construction
Built for 24/7 gym traffic, not weekend warriors. Every weld, stitch and component rated for commercial duty cycles.
Australian Support
Local stock, local team, local install crews. No 6-week overseas shipping delays. No language-barrier support tickets.
Factory-Direct Pricing
We design, we source, we distribute. No middlemen marking up the same equipment you see on three other sites.
Biomechanical Precision
Every machine engineered for natural movement patterns. Reduce injury risk, maximise output, extend member retention.
How It Is Used
Real applications for serious training environments.
Resistance where it counts
The pendulum arc loads the hardest phases of the lift, not the lockout. Front and rear loading counterweights and a precise two-way adjustable footplate let every athlete dial the movement to their build and their goal.
Stability under load
177kg of dead weight and a solid, robust frame. No wobble, no shift, no matter how hard the set gets. Your members focus on form and technique, not the machine.
Legs to failure, no spotter
Multi-position safety catches and an upright torso mean members can push a set to the last rep on their own. That is the difference between a machine people look at and a machine people queue for.
One machine, every member
Quick height adjustment on the harness and a footplate that moves in two directions. Short, tall, beginner or powerlifter, the setup takes seconds and the movement fits the body, not the other way around.
Frequently Asked Questions
Plain answers to the questions our customers actually ask.
What is a pendulum squat machine?
A plate loaded leg machine where the load swings on an arm pivoting from the top of the frame. You stand on an angled footplate with your shoulders under a padded harness and squat against a fixed arc. The arc keeps your torso upright, so the quads, glutes and hamstrings do the work and the lower back stays out of it.
What muscles does the pendulum squat work?
Quads first, then glutes and hamstrings. Moving the footplate forward and lower shifts more work to the glutes and hamstrings. Moving it back and steeper shifts the emphasis onto the quads. The two-way adjustable footplate on the Phoenix Pendulum Squat lets members set that up in seconds.
What is the difference between a pendulum squat and a hack squat?
A hack squat runs a sled straight up and down on rails with your back against a pad, and the rep gets easier as you lock out. A pendulum squat swings the load on an arc with your torso upright, and the rep is hardest at the bottom and through the drive out. The pendulum squat allows deeper squat depth with less lower back involvement and hits the quads hard at lower plate loads.
Is a pendulum squat better than a barbell back squat?
Different tools. A barbell squat loads the spine to load the legs, which is fine for a strong lifter with good technique. On a busy commercial floor, the pendulum squat lets members train legs to genuine failure with no spotter and no accumulated spinal fatigue. Most gyms want both: racks for the lifters who squat, a pendulum squat for everyone else who wants big legs without the back risk.
How do the front and rear counterweight horns work?
Two loading positions let you tune how the machine feels before the working plates go on. Plates on the front horn add resistance through the arc. Plates on the rear horn offset the weight of the arm itself, so the empty machine starts lighter for beginners, rehab work or warm-up sets. It means one machine suits a 60kg member and a 120kg powerlifter without either compromising.
What plates does it take?
Standard Olympic plates with a 50mm centre hole. Bumper plates, calibrated steel plates and rubber coated plates all work. Loading is done from a standing position, so a member can rack plates between sets without climbing off or asking for help.
How much floor space does it need?
The footprint is 189cm x 101cm with a height of 154cm, so it sits under any standard commercial ceiling. Allow clearance on both sides for loading plates onto the horns and a clear approach at the front for members stepping onto the footplate.
Is it built for commercial use?
Yes. 177kg of dead weight in a commercial steel frame, a plate loaded design with no stack or cable to service, and a Phoenix signature black powder coat. Custom colours are available for branded fit-outs. It is specified for premium strength gyms, Defence facilities and high performance institutions.
How is delivery and installation handled?
It ships Australia wide from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Delivery and installation are quoted on request so you only pay for the freight your site actually needs. Commercial orders of two or more machines are priced as a package with delivery. Call Andy on 0422 046 895 for a quote.
